Deepika Padukone marked her birthday this year by launching OnSet, a new initiative that reflects her deep commitment.
Mumbai: Deepika Padukone marked her birthday this year by launching OnSet, a new initiative that reflects her deep commitment to nurturing talent behind the camera. The actress announced the project through a video on her Instagram handle, where she spoke directly to her fans about her desire to identify and support aspiring technicians from across India and beyond, giving them a platform to be seen, heard, and experienced.
OnSet is a passion project inspired by Deepika’s own journey in the film industry. Over the years, she has closely observed how crucial behind-the-scenes professionals are to filmmaking and how limited access to opportunities can restrict talented individuals. Through this initiative, she hopes to bridge that gap by creating meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities.
The programme is part of ‘Create With Me 2.0’, an upgraded version of Deepika’s earlier initiative. While the first phase focused on creative collaboration, the new version places strong emphasis on experiential learning. OnSet is the first programme under this new phase and is designed as an immersive learning platform for technicians across departments such as camera, sound, lighting, production design, costume, makeup, and more. Participants will gain real-world experience by learning directly on active sets.
The initiative has already received positive responses from fans and industry insiders, who have praised Deepika for using her influence to uplift emerging talent.
Besides this initiative, Deepika has also been open about her approach to health and fitness. She has often spoken about enjoying snacks like banana chips, French fries, and a favourite chilli-cheese recipe, while stressing the importance of balance and portion control.
In one Instagram post, she addressed misconceptions around dieting, explaining that for her, a “diet” is a way of life rooted in balance, consistency, and listening to one’s body.
She even shares a post :

‘Surprised to see this on my feed? Well, I eat! And I eat well! Ask anyone who knows me. So don’t believe anything else you might hear or read.
The trick? Balance, Consistency and Listening to YOUR Body.
There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding around the word ‘Diet’. We often believe that ‘Diet’ means to starve, to eat less and to eat all of the things we detest.
What ‘Diet’ really means is the total of all the food and drink consumed by an individual. The word actually comes from the Greek word “diaita,” which means “way of life.”
I’ve always, for as long as I can remember, followed a ‘Balanced Diet’. And it is for me ‘a way of life’. I’ve never followed a diet that I cannot be consistent with or one that is a fad.
Now, do I indulge? Of course, I do, as demonstrated above!😅 But it most certainly isn’t my way of life.
Ever heard the phrase ‘you are what you eat?’ If there’s one thing I’ve learnt (the hard-ish way) is that those words couldn’t be truer.
I’d love to know about your diet and how you indulge if and when you do! DM @82e.official .

Fitness-wise, Deepika has repeatedly highlighted the role of Pilates in her journey, including after becoming a mother. She regularly practices MOTR (Movement on the Roller), a portable Pilates machine, and follows a simple 10-minute daily workout routine that includes light cardio, stretching, yoga poses like cat-cow, and spinal articulation. Her philosophy remains clear: consistency matters more than intensity.
Through OnSet and her personal lifestyle choices, Deepika Padukone continues to inspire both on and off screen.
