Mumbai: Christopher Nolan’s new masterpiece, The Odyssey, has stormed the global box office, grossing a phenomenal USD 257 million in its opening weekend.
The movie has registered the highest opening weekend of Nolan’s career to date and has surpasses the initial collections of mega-hit films like Oppenheimer and The Dark Knight Rises.
The movie has received a great response in the international markets as it features a stellar cast like Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron and Lupita Nyong’o.
Shot entirely on specialised IMAX cameras developed for The Odyssey, the movie also found massive traction from IMAX screen reservations, as fans queued for the format.
In India, the movie also took off to a strong start, amassing nearly 22 crore by the second day, due to fantastic occupancy in the premium formats and a favourable audience reaction.
It is anticipated by the trade experts that the film will continue its strong hold over the ticket windows over the course of the weekend.
