Bollywood’s Kapoors celebrate 40 years of Prithvi Theatre

Bollywood’s famed Kapoor clan lately organized a grand celebration to commemorate completion of 40 years of the very popular Prithvi Theatres. The theatre can be asserted as the second home of every theatre enthusiast. Owned and run by Bollywood’s first family, the Kapoors, the theatre is a hub for artists who dedicate themselves to the performing arts.

On this occasion Shashi’s son Kunal Kapoor, who handles operations of Prithvi Theatre, hosted a star-studded party along with his children Zahaan and Shaira Laura. Eminent personalities from cinema, theatre, music and media graced the occasion. Among the attendees were Shabana Azmi, Lillete Dubey, Kalki Koechlin, Divya Dutta, Neetu Chandra, Paresh Rawal, Sayani Gupta, Aahana Kumra, Shikha Talsania, Ila Arun, Vivaan Shah, Rajit Kapur and filmmakers Imtiaz Ali and Hansal Mehta. Besides, actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan graced the occasion and played the perfect hosts.

Actor Prithviraj Kapoor started the Prithvi Theatre in 1944 as a travelling group of artistes to perform all over India. After his demise, actor Shashi Kapoor took over and built the Prithvi Theatre at Juhu, Mumbai in 1978.

Prithvi Theatre is a platform for creative artistes to showcase their talent, and works to promotes India’s theatre culture.  Several Indian and international artistes and theatre groups perform here during the festival.
