The Bombay High court granted bail to Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha on Thursday, after three weeks since Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested them in the cruise drug case. They are likely to walk out of jail today or tomorrow, after the Bombay High Court gives a detailed order with reasons on why the bail is being granted and will also impose certain conditions.
Justice Sambre generally has more than 70 bail and anticipatory bail applications to process everyday. Also, the court is headed for a two-week Diwali vacation. Due to such packed schedule, the date for Aryan Khan’s release can’t be pin-pointed. However, his lawyers have said that they will now try to complete the formalities for the 23-year-old’s release by Friday or Saturday, considering how the judge has only 40 cases listed on his board on those days.
Justice Sambre’s staff, however, has said that the the order should be ready by Friday afternoon. Sources have also hinted that the judge has already started dictating the order.
Aryan Khan’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has also been outside Justice Sambre’s chamber, waiting for the order. As per reports once the orders are out he will approach the special court with formalities. “Hopefully we will be able to satisfy the court so that we can get Aryan released tonight or tomorrow morning,” Maneshinde told to media.
Talking to ANI, Maneshinde said, “We expect Aryan to be out of jail in the evening today itself.” He further added, “We’re expecting to receive orders of HC from HC registry today evening. As soon as we get the orders we’ll produce it in NDPS court for completing other formalities & get release orders for Aryan Khan.”

According to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act, once the order is out, it needs to be sent to the special court which has the custody of Aryan Khan and others.
Since Justice Sambre would impose a certain amount for a cash bond in the bail order, the procedure for the bail bond is needed to be completed in the Mumbai session court. Only then will the special NDPS court be able to issue the release order to the concerned jail.
Maneshinde’s legal team will then have to drop the bond papers of the release order in a box outside the Arthur Road jail. The box clearing out time is 5:30 pm, they have to drop the documents before that.
If the documents are submitted on time, then the jail authorities will be able to start preparing for the release of the accused and have them walk out of the prison by 7 pm.
To have all the legal procedures done in time, Maneshinde’s team has fanned out across South Mumbai to coordinate and make sure that no time is lost is any procedural delay.
