Anupam Kher shines as Manmohan Singh in trailer of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’

Bhubaneswar: The trailer of upcoming Hindi film ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ is out and in less than 24 hours it has sparked controversy. The film is based on the book by the same name by Sanjay Baru, who was media advisor and chief spokesperson of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2008.

Coming to the trailer, apart from the political pomposity, many people have admired the outstanding performance of Anupam Kher, who has essayed the role of Dr Manmohan Singh. In the trailer he greatly resemblances to the former PM. Even his looks, style of speech, and even mannerisms widely resembles with that of Dr Singh.

When year 2018 is about to end the film’s trailer has kicked out one final controversy. The film is a fictionalized version of Baru’s book. ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ dwells upon the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of India and his interface with the Gandhi family-led Congress party.

The trailer of the film, which was released on Thursday, shows Singh as the victim of the inside politics in Congress ahead of the 2014 general elections.

Anupam Kher has played the pivotal character of Dr Manmohan Singh while Akshaye Khanna has essayed the role of Sanjaya Baru. Suzanne Bernert has played the character of Sonia Gandhi while Aahana Kumra and Arjun Mathur have played roles of Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi respectively. Vimal Verma has appeared as Lalu Prasad Yadav and Avter Saini as Lal Krishna Advani. The film is scheduled to release on January 11, 2019.
