Aditya Roy Kapoor joins Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt in ‘Sadak 2’

Mumbai: Not so long ago, it was reported that Alia Bhatt has given her nod to star in father Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 along with sister Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt. As per latest development, Aditya Roy Kapoor has been roped in to play the lead opposite Alia in Sadak 2. This has been revealed on the occasion of Mahesh Bhatt’s 70th birthday today.

Confirming her presence in the project and wishing her father on his father, Alia posted a picture of Mahesh Bhatt on Instagram. She wrote- “Dear Daddy, On your 70th Birthday you have given me the greatest present I could ask and dream for. You are directing me! Sadak 2 is a dream come true…What I thought will never be possible you have made possible. Thank you daddy from the bottom of my heart, soul and bones.This will be a journey of discovery… Of life, movies, feeling and most of all… Of a father and daughter. I love you my not-so-old man! Happy Birthday”

Mahesh’s elder daughter Pooja, who has earlier worked with her father Mahesh Bhatt in films like Daddy, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sir, Zakhm shared a teaser-like video of Sadak 2 to express her excitement regarding the project.


Moreover, Sanjay Dutt too shared his excitement to be a part of the project through a tweet. The actor who has worked with Mahesh in films like Naam, Sadak and Gumrah took to twitter and wished the director on his birthday. Sanjay wrote- Thank you for giving me #Sadak bhatt saab. Wish you a very Happy Birthday. I love you!

Interestingly, Sadak 2 marks the return of Mahesh Bhatt as director post a hiatus of 19 years. It is a sequel to the 1991 film Sadak which was the story of a taxi driver who is trying to rescue the girl he loves from a brothel. Sadashiv Amrapurkar played the character of Maharani in the film. Mahesh’s wife and Alia’s mother Soni Razdan also had a small part in the film.

The film is slated to release on 25 March, 2020. It marks the first collaboration of Alia Bhatt with her father Mahesh Bhatt. Besides, Aditya Roy Kapoor will also work with Vishesh Films post the super-successful ‘Aashiqui 2’ which had released in 2013.
