Aamir Khan recently spoke about his marriage with former wife Reena Dutta on a podcast. The 60-year-old actor reminisced about his 16-year-old marriage, explaining he does not regret the time he spent with Reena and their children, Ira and Junaid, but wishes they had not hurried into it. “We had a wedding after being together for only four months. We were young and did not think about anything,” he explained.

Aamir confessed that they were just 21 and 19 respectively when they got married. “I did a lot of things wrong. We got married in a hurry, but we have grown up together and there is a lot of love and respect between us,” he further added. Even though their marriage did not last, Aamir does enjoy the experience and the learning that it provided to him.

The actor feels that his marriage to Reena was not a wrong decision, but it was the timing that went wrong. “I wouldn’t marry someone in four months today. I’ve learned with age and can spot the red flags,” he expressed. Aamir also blames the breakdown of their marriage on his being a workaholic and said, “I was lost in my films, and that’s the red flag. I was a workaholic.”

Aamir is currently busy with his next release ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, in which he will be playing the role of a teacher of specially-abled children. The film will release on June 20. The actor, meanwhile, has spoken candidly about his relationship with Gauri Spratt, which he announced this year.
