“Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai, Pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil”.

You guessed it right. The song featured in Raj Kapoor’s blockbuster flick ‘Shree 420’ was shot in the treasured RK Studio. However, the iconic studio where many blockbuster movies were shot was demolished today.

After facing huge loss the Kapoor clan decided to sell it. The property was sold to Godrej Company which plans to convert the studio into a luxurious residential complex and a retail space.

Definitely, it was a dark day for the Kapoor family as well as Bollywood fraternity. Several popular Bollywood classics have been shot in the R K Studio. The whole Bollywood fraternity seems to be heartbroken with the news.

RK Studio studio was established by legendary actor, director and producer Raj Kapoor at Chembur, Mumbai.  It was founded in 1948, just after one year of India gaining Independence.

The studio is spread across a vast 2.2 acres of land. The first-ever movie shot in the RK Studio was ‘Aag’. Also, later the iconic studio gave out some of the biggest blockbusters like ‘Barsaat’, ‘Bobby’, ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’, and of course ‘Mera Naam Joker’ starring Raj Kapoor himself.

Demolition of the archetypal RK Studio seems like the end of an era.
