Odisha DGP reviews security for 4th phase polls

Cuttack: Odisha DGP RP Sharma took stock of the law and order situation of nine districts today which will go into polls on April 29. Sharma held a discussion at the Police headquarter in Cuttack with the concerned SPs ad range IGs for smooth conduct of polls.

The DGP asked the SPs to take care of the security of the contesting candidates. He further asked to provide PSOs to the contesting candidates of the three major political parties.

In the meeting, Sharma also reviewed results of the enforcement drives taken by different districts on issues like bounding down of persons u/s 110 CrPC, seizure of illegal arms, seizure of illicit liquor and execution of NBWs.

During the review, it was also found that the nine districts, going for the polls in the 4th phase, have more or less achieved their targets for enforcement.

Sharma also asked the SPs to utilize the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) as per the guideline of the Election Commissioner of India. He asked that the CAPF to be utilised for area domination work in sensitive booth clusters and mobile parties.
