Sambalpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday promised to implement the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Odisha, if Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returns to power in the state after the elections.

“Once we come to power in the state we will implement Ayushman Bharat Yojana,” said PM Modi while addressing an election rally here to woo the voters in the ongoing Assembly election.

The Prime Minister also accused the BJD government of wrongly claiming to be providing one kg of rice for Re 1 in Odisha.

“The government of chowkidar in Delhi purchases a kg of rice for Rs 29 or Rs 30 and sends it for the poor of the state. The state government puts Re 1 or Rs 2 in the purchase but claims that it provides cheaper rice to the poor. This is not true,” PM Modi claimed.

He also said that people of Odisha were wracked by poverty years after Independence because Congress and BJD have been in power in the state.

Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat will go to polls in the third phase on April 23.
