City bus service launched in Balasore

City Bus BalasoreBalasore: Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera flagged off the first fleet of City Buses for Balasore district on Tuesday. While 10 buses were launched under various routes in the first phase, a few more would be incorporated at a later stage under Biju Gaon Gadi Yojna, says reports.

An Odisha Government initiative on rural-urban connectivity, the City Bus service rolled out in Balasore today would witness two buses plying from Station Chhak in Balasore town to Soro via Banka Khajuri Chhak on a daily basis. Similarly, two other buses under this route would travel between Station Chhak and Sajnagad via Sergarh.

In another route, two buses would carry passengers between Balasore Town and Mitrapur via Remuna Golei and two other vehicles would make up and down trips between Station Chhak and Gandhi Smruti Bhawan via Phuladi. Two other buses would also ply between Somnathpur and Balaramgadi via ITI Chhak, sources said.

A decision to procure City Buses for Balasore from State funds and run those by Dream Team Sahara (DTS), which is operating the JNNURM buses in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack since 2010, was taken by the Odisha Government in the year 2014.
