TVS will be launching a new affordable scooter in India towards the end of this month and it is likely to be named ‘Orbiter’. According to reports, this scooter will cost under Rs 1 lakh and will sit below TVS iQube in the company’s EV scooter hierarchy.

The new scooter launch will take place on August 28. A large ‘O’ letter could be seen in the background of the teaser image. Apart from that, the company has also trademarked the new name ‘Orbiter’ in India last year. This means that there are high chances that the upcoming scooter will have the above mentioned name.

Reports have mentioned that the scooter will use a hub-mounted motor for keeping the costs under check. TVS had registered a design patent for a new scooter in the Indonesian market this year. There are chances that the new scooter will have the same design.

TVS will place the ‘Orbiter’ below iQube range. For those who are unknown, the iQube offers wide range of options for customers. The electric scooter is offered in five variants. Buyers can choose from three battery variants. The smallest 2.2kWh variant costs Rs 1 lakh while the range-topping 5.1kWh version costs Rs 2 lakh. Speaking about the Orbiter, it is expected to get a smaller battery with limited features.

In the ever increasing electric scooter market in India, it seems that TVS is making it more competitive by introducing a new entry-level scooter. We expect the manufacturer to reveal more about the upcoming scooter on August 28 (during launch).
