Toyota Hilux Pickup truck revealed in India, Know engine specifications, features and booking price

Toyota India has finally revealed the India specific model of Hilux pickup truck today. The Toyota Hilux will launch in India in March 2022 and the deliveries are expected to start within a month. The bookings of the vehicle have been opened by the company (Toyota). Interested buyers can book the Toyota Hilux at Rs 50,000.

For those who are unknown, the Toyota Hilux Pickup truck is a lifestyle vehicle offered by Toyota Motor Corporation. Even though it was introduced by the company way back in 1968 in various markets, it hasn’t been launched in India yet.

The upcoming Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that is previously seen in the Fortuner Legender. The engine churns out maximum power of 204 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. The emission standard of the pick-up truck is according to BS6 norms. The dimensions of the pick-up truck are 5325 mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,815mm in height. The wheelbase of the Hilux is 3085mm and this makes its longer than it’s nearest rival Isuzu D-max V-Cross.

In terms of transmission, the pick-up truck will be powered by a 6-speed manual/ automatic gearbox. The Toyota Hilux is offered as a 4×4 drivetrain and has a water wading capacity of 700mm. The cabin of the Toyota Hilux is expected to be similar to that of the Toyota Fortuner. It will have an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multi-functional steering wheel, seven airbags, auto climate control etc.

Considering the current automobile market, the Toyota Hilux pickup truck is expected to cost between Rs 25 lakh- Rs 35 lakh. In India, the Toyota Hilux will get tough competition from Isuzu Hi-Lander and V-Cross. The 18-inch alloy wheels on the Toyota Hilux provide it an excellent offroading capability.

In terms of colour options, the Toyota hilux will be available in five colour tones. The five colour tones include Emotional Red, Gray Metallic, White Pearl CS, Silver Metallic and Super White.
