Toyota motors has launched a new car in the urban sub-compact crossover segment with SUV styling and is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine.
The new launch has got an unique and distinctive name, ‘Aygo X’.
Automotive experts term it as a strong competitor to the newly launched and highly popular ‘Tata Punch’.
It is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which can generate a maximum power of 72 hp and provides a peak torque up to 205 Nm.
Toyota Aygo X is 3,700 mm in length, 1,740 mm in width and 1,510 mm in height, compared to Aygo X.
It is expected to give a tough competition to the Tata Punch which measures 3,827 mm in length, 1,742 mm in width and 1,615 mm in height.
Toyota Aygo X is based on the GA-B platform, an architecture derived from the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform on which the Toyota Yaris and the Toyota Yaris Cross have been built.
Toyota Aygo X has a large front grille, fog lamps, headlights along with LED daytime running lights.
The car sports a dual-tone colour scheme. The C-pillar of the Aygo X gets the black tone while the rest of the body gets one of the other four available colours.
The indicators are two bars of light surrounded by a subtle bright light. The Aygo X also gets a side look in which the roof is wedge-shaped to provide a more sporty look to the car.
The car sits on a set of 18-inch wheels which enhance the sporty character of the Aygo X.
The interior features vividly colored accents and a nine-inch touchscreen.
The Aygo X has the much sophisticated ambient lighting with wireless charging options. It also has full-LED headlights and even support for over-the-air updates.
The safety technology in the car is premium too, it includes adaptive cruise control, night pedestrian detection, lane trace assist, and daytime cyclist detection, just to name a few.
The Aygo X also comes with a decently large boot space for its size at 231 litres.
The top speed is 98 mph (158 km/h) with the manual and a slightly lower 94 mph (151 km/h) for the CVT-equipped model.
The car is available in 4 colour variants i.e. red, blue, cardamom green and beige.
The Toyota Aygo X has a turning circle of only 4.7 meters (15.4 feet), which makes it ideal for the crowded urban roads and narrow and busy streets.
Sale of the car in India is probably expected to kick off in early 2022. But price of the car is yet to be revealed. Nothing has been made official on this.
