Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG receive thumbs up in the Indian market, Sells more than 3000 units

Tata Motors entered the CNG passenger vehicle market in India in January 2022 with the Tata Tiago CNG and Tata Tigor CNG. Both the models get a factory-fitted CNG kit. While the Tiago is sold in four trims (XE, XM, XT, and XZ+), the Tigor is sold in two variants (XZ and XZ+). Considering that both the CNG cars have sold more than 3000 units, it can be considered that the cars have received a great feedback from the Indian buyers.

The CNG editions of Tata Tiago and Tigor get a price hike of Rs 90,000 over its petrol counterpart. Even though both the CNG cars seem to be the same from the exterior, there are minor differences in the engine power and boot space. However, the other features are more or less the same.

When it comes to engines, the CNG models of both cars are powered by 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron engine. The 1.2-litre engine churns out a power of 73bhp and a peak torque of 95Nm. On the other hand, the petrol counterpart of the 1.2-litre Revotron engine churns out a power of 86bhp and a peak torque of 113Nm. This means the CNG variant generates 13hp less power and 18Nm less torque than the petrol counterpart. The gearbox is a 5-speed manual transmission and is offered as a standard. The fuel efficiency of Tiago and Tigor is 26.49 km/kg.

Due to the CNG kit the boot space of the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor gets reduced significantly. The Tata Tigor’s boot space falls down from 419 litres to 205 litres. The same can be told about the Tata Tiago where the boot space falls down from 242 litres to just 80 litres.

In terms of cabin features, the Tiago features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also features voice commands along with steering-mounted controls. The other important features offered on the Tiago and Tigor will include a height-adjustable driver seat, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable, foldable wing mirrors , and many more.

The CNG editions of Tata Tiago and Tigor get dual airbags, ABS, rear parking camera and sensors, and corner stability control. Both the CNG cars get a 4-star in global NCAP safety ratings.

The Tata Tiago CNG price starts from Rs 6.09 lakh and goes up to Rs 7.52 lakh. On the other hand, the Tigor CNG is priced between Rs 7.69 lakh and Rs 8.29 lakh. Both the prices of the Tiago and Tigor are ex-showroom price Delhi.

The Tata Tiago CNG has its competition from Hyundai Santro CNG, Maruti Wagon R CNG and Maruti Celerio CNG.
