Mumbai: Both the Sensex and the Nifty on Monday hit record intra-day highs at the stock markets in the financial capital of the country.
The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) scaled a lifetime intra-day high of 32,252 in afternoon trade. After trimming its gains, the Sensex had climbed 201 points, to 32,230.
The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange also touched a new intra-day peak, and later gained 46 points to reach 9,961. Stocks rose on better-than-expected quarterly corporate results.
However, the rupee depreciated 10 paise, to 64.42 against the dollar in afternoon deals at the forex market.
