Rupee Surges 11 Paise To 70.81 Against Dollar In Early Trade

Mumbai: The rupee surged by 11 paise to 70.81 against the U.S. dollar in opening trade on Tuesday, amid weakening of the American currency in overseas markets and fresh foreign inflows.

The rupee opened weak at 70.95 at the interbank Forex market, then gained further to touch 70.81 amid a weak opening in domestic equities- showing a gain of 11 paise over its last close.

Forex traders said increased selling of dollar by exporters, fresh foreign fund inflows and easing crude prices supported the upward spree of the rupee.
