PepsiCo’s Laxman Narasimhan to become Reckitt CEO

New Delhi: British consumer goods giant Reckitt Benckiser Group plc appointed PepsiCo executive Laxman Narasimhan as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to succeed Rakesh Kapoor.

He will join Reckitt as CEO-designate and will be appointed to the board as an executive director effective 16 July, the British company said in a statement.

Narasimhan joins Reckitt as its CEO at a time the company is struggling with slower growth, little pricing power and changing consumer habits.

His initial priorities will be to focus on delivering outperformance, especially in the health business unit, and to drive the Lysol maker’s plan to split the firm into two business units under the same company, Reckitt said in a statement.

Indian-origin Laxman Narasimhan has worked across multiple industries, including consumer, retail, energy, manufacturing, technology and healthcare; he has led assignments in the public sector particularly in education and skill building. He has also held several important positions around the world.
