Hospitals across North India will stop offering cashless treatment to Bajaj Allianz General Insurance customers starting September 1.

As per the sources, the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI) has directed all its member hospitals to take this step after repeated disagreements with the insurer over reimbursement rates. This decision affects over 15,000 hospital including major chains like Max Healthcare and Medanta.

Further, Bajaj Allianz has reportedly not updated treatment rates for several years despite medical inflation of 7–8% annually due to higher expenses for staff, medicines and hospital operations. Instead, the insurer has pushed hospitals to reduce the rates.

Hospitals have also reported delayed payments, deduction from bills without explanation and slow processes for approving treatments and discharges.

Under the new arrangement, patients will still be treated at the hospital but only on a self-pay basis. They can later submit claims to Bajaj Allianz for reimbursement.

AHPI has also warned Care Health Insurance of similar action if tariff disputes are not resolved by August 31.
In response to this, Bajaj Allianz has reportedly stated that it is working with hospitals to resolve the issues.
