New electric SUV in India: BMW iX to launch in December 2021; Check expected price, specifications

The electric vehicle market in India is currently on the rise and is expected to maintain the consistency. With some big manufacturing companies like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, introducing their electric cars in India, BMW does not seem to lag behind. BMW will introduce its iX SUV in India on December 11. Globally the BMW iX is offered in two variants- iX xDrive40 and iX xDrive50.

Engine specifications

The BMW iX xDrive40 is powered by a 71kWh battery while the xDrive50 gets a 105.2kWh battery. The battery is paired to dual motors and gives the SUV an all-wheel-drive system. The maximum power generated by the xDrive40 is 326hp while peak torque is 630Nm. On the other hand, the maximum power of xDrive50 is 523hp while peak torque is 765Nm.

In terms of acceleration the xDrive40 can go from 0-100 kmph in a matter of 6.1 seconds and gives a range of 414km. On the other hand, the xDrive50 accelerates from 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds. The total range provided by the car can go up to 611km.

Interior

The BMW iX SUV will have a dual-tone cabin, high-mounted armrest for the front-seat occupants, multi-functional hexagonal steering wheel and a head-up display. An infotainment console of 14.9-inch and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster are also present.

Exterior

The BMW iX electric SUV gets a closed-off grille at the front, LED headlights at the front and rear, and many more features that make it look sharp among other vehicles. The grille is kidney shaped and provides intelligent driver assistance systems which include radars, cameras and sensors.

The SUV gets frameless doors, 22-inch wheels, a raked windscreen, and sleek LED taillights grace the rear end of the SUV.

Price

It is expected that the BMW iX electric SUV will carry a price-tag of approx. Rs. 1 crore (ex-showroom) as it gets launched in India.

Rivals

The BMW iX SUV will give a tough competition to Audi e-tron and Mercedes-Benz EQC after its launch.
