Mahindra discontinues Thar convertible top variants in India, price range remains unchanged
Mahindra has now discontinued the convertible top variants of the Thar SUV in India, reported Autocar India.
Mahindra Thar has been one of the top-selling SUVs offered by the company in India. Mahindra has now discontinued the convertible top variants of the Thar, reported Autocar India. Other variants that were reported to be discontinued are AX 4WD variants and LX variants with open differential. Currently, total number of variants those are available for the buyers are 11.
As Mahindra discontinues multiple variants of Thar, the price range of the car remains the same as earlier. The price remains between Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh. Earlier reports have suggested that the Mahindra Thar facelift will be launching in 2026. Currently, the Mahindra Thar AX variant is available with 1.5-litre diesel variant.
Earlier the Mahindra Thar was offered in a total of 19 variants. Post the removal of Convertible Top variants, AX 4WD variants and LX variants with open differential, the total variants have reduced to 11. The top variant of the SUV that is currently on sale in India is the 2.2-litre diesel LX AT Earth Edition 4WD. It costs Rs 17.60 lakh.

When it comes to Thar facelift, it is likely to get design inspiration from the bigger Thar Roxx. New changes are likely to include new grille, C-shaped LED signatures and tail-lamps. Other changes include body cladding, redesigned bumpers, new alloy wheels and much more. Feature list also includes fully digital instrument cluster, infotainment touchscreen along with sunroof.
Engine on the Thar facelift is expected to be same as earlier. It is expected to get 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that offers 152hp output. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel will offer 119hp and 132hp respectively.
