LPG Distributors strike is likely soon if their demands are not met at the earliest. In a meeting of the LPG Distributors Association, the decision to go on a nationwide strike has been taken.
According to reports, the LPG Distributors Association has threatened of an nationwide strike if their demands are not met at the earliest. Among several demands the topmost is to increase distributor commission. Other demands rage from resolution of distribution issues under the Ujjwala Yojana to better government cooperation.
The decision to go on a strike within the next three months was taken at the association’s national convention held in Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh. A letter with the charter of demands has been forwarded to the Union Government.
An excerpt from the letter read as follows, “LPG supply is based on demand and supply. But oil companies are forcibly sending non-domestic cylinders to distributors without any demand, which is against legal provisions. It should be stopped immediately. There are also problems in distribution of Ujjwala Scheme LPG cylinders.”
The Association further stated in the letter submitted to the Union government that the commission on LPG distribution should be revised to a minimum of Rs. 150 in order to meet the rising operational costs of the present market.
It is worth mentioning that the consumers will have a tough time if the LPG distributors strike takes place. As the supply of the main fuel for cooking will go out of supply.
