IndiGo launches business-class service for the first time in 18 years

New Delhi: India’s leading airlines, IndiGo has introduced business-class services for the first time since its inception. The announcement was made during the celebration of its 18th anniversary.

During the ceremony, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said, “Starting tomorrow, passengers traveling between metro cities will have the option to book business class seats on IndiGo flight.”

Though bookings will start immediately but the new business-class service will be available for travel beginning from November.

Reportedly, IndiGo flights will have 12 business class seats in the aircraft and curated meals will be served as part of the new feature. The first business-class flight will be between Delhi and Mumbai. Meanwhile, the tickets can be booked with fares starting at Rs 18,018 from tomorrow.

Additionally, the low-cost airlines announced wide-body aircraft operation on its 18th anniversary that by 2027 IndiGo will start IndiGo wide body services on Airbus 350 – 900 planes.

Apart from that, IndiGo has also introduced its loyalty programme called BluChip under which every flight passenger can earn points that will allow access to prime passes, baggage, seat select.

It is worth mentioning here that IndiGo currently operates over 400 routes, including 34 international destinations. During the celebration, the CEO also shared plans for further expansion, with seven new international routes.
