Renault will not be launching any facelift model of the Kwid hatchback in India mentioned a report by Autocar Professional. The company has recently updated two models that are available in India. Renault had last introduced a facelift to the Kwid hatchback in 2019.
Renault has recently introduced the facelift version of 7-seater MPV- Triber. Similarly, the facelift model of Kiger compact SUV launched at Rs 6.29 lakh in India. However, India will not have a facelift version of Renault Kwid in 2025.
“The new Triber is the first product under the Renault. Rethink strategy, and this will be followed by three more launches over the next two years,” said the managing director of Renault India, Venkatram Mamillapalle in a conversation with Autocar Professional. The MD of Renault India also mentioned that Kwid facelift will not happen for the next two years. However, the Kwid will not discontinue anytime soon in India.
The Renault Kwid faces huge challenge from the Maruti Suzuki entry-level cars. The sales figures of the Kwid are down to triple digits. It seems this might be the reason why the company did not want to invest in the Kwid. However, we can expect minor cosmetic changes and safety features on the hatchback.
The Renault Kwid gets a 1-litre petrol engine. The 1-litre variant offers 68PS maximum power along with 91Nm maximum torque. The engine is paired with manual and AMT gearboxes.
