Bhubaneswar: In a major boost for the Make in Odisha, France on Saturday expressed its interest to invest in the State.
The trade and commerce delegation led by France ambassador Alexander Ziegler met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today at the Secretariat here and expressed willingness to in investing in Odisha in the field of hotel, steel, electrical implements, energy and others.
During the discussion, the CM invited the delegation to attend the ‘Make in Odisha Conclave’ scheduled to be held here in November and requested that more French companies should invest in Odisha.
“Odisha has turned into an attractive destination for investments. The proposed investments will create economic and trade relationship between Odisha and France,” Patnaik said during the meeting with French Ambassador and business delegation.
“Odisha is a mineral rich state. It has turned into the Aluminum capital in South Asia by producing 54 percent of the total aluminum in India. In addition, the state is known as a steel hub and it accounts for 25 percent of steel production in the country,” the CM said.
Patnaik said the government is also formulating plans for the development of metal and allied industries in its vision 2030. Besides, a policy will be drafted soon in defence and aerospace sectors.
The CM also requested the delegation for making investments in aircraft, electronics equipment, medical equipment and food processing sectors in the state.
In his reactions, France emissary Alexander Ziegler and the members of Indo-French Chamber of Commerce expressed that Odisha has the appropriate environment for financial investment and France will step its efforts to make more and more commercial ties with Odisha.
Odisha Industries Minister Ananta Das, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, Development Commissioner R. Balakrishnan and Industries Secretary Sanjeev Chopra also attended the meeting.
