First look of Skoda Slavia sedan released, to make an official debut on November 18

Czech automaker Skoda has released the first look of its upcoming sedan Skoda Slavia. The Skoda Slavia is scheduled to make a debut on November 18. The new sedan will replace the Skoda Rapid in the Indian market. The launch of the new Slavia is expected to be in first half of 2022.

The automaker has shared new sketches of the Skoda Slavia during the first look reveal of the car. The sketch reveal reveals the expected design of the upcoming car. While the front of the car is seen to feature a hexagonal grille, it is seen with a sleek LED headlight unit with L-shaped LED DRLs. A Skoda signature can be found on the bonnet of the sedan while a chrome border runs along the butterfly grille. At the rear the sedan sports LED tail lamps while the bumper has a full width chrome strip at the lower side. The Skoda Slavia also features alloy wheels which adds to the overall looks of the sedan.

The Skoda Slavia will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which is used in the recently launched SUV Kushaq. The new Slavia will also be offered in two TSI turbo-petrol engines. It will have a 1.0 TSI petrol engine and a 1.5 TSI petrol engine. Both the engines are offered in 6 speed manual transmission, 6 speed automatic transmission and a 7 speed DSG transmission.

The key features of the Skoda Slavia might include six airbags, a digital instrument cluster, and a rear parking camera, cruise control and multi-collision brake. It is important to note that the Skoda has not yet revealed the features of Skoda Slavia. In terms of pricing, the Slavia is expected to be priced between the Rs 10 lakh and Rs 16 lakh in India. Upon its launch the new sedan will compete, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Even though Skoda Motors will discontinue the Skoda Rapid, a matte edition of the sedan was recently launched in India. The special edition of Skoda Rapid sedan gets an exclusive colour theme in its exterior as well as its interior. While the exterior of the vehicle gets a Carbon Steel Matte colour the interior colour is Tellur Grey.

In terms of price, the new Skoda Rapid Matte Edition is priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Manual Transmission variant. The Automatic Transmission variant is offered at just Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The sedan is powered by a 1.0-litre 2 cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 109 bhp. The maximum torque of the sedan is 175 Nm. The engine is mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
