Bharatiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced to launch the first fibre-based Intranet TV service with over 500 live channels in selected regions in India. Calling it, IFTV, BSNL is set to provide its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to provide clear visuals and a Pay TV facility to its users.
Earlier, the telecommunication giant had rolled out the national Wi-Fi roaming service for its customers to access high-speed internet at BSNL hotspots within the country, thus reducing the data cost.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), it informed that its new IFTV services would be initially available in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu for the customers with over 500 lives TV channels to choose from. Additionally, the Pay TV content, on IFTV will be free, unlike other service providers like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel that deduct the data consumed for streaming.

BSNL said TV streaming on IFTV will be independent of their data packs and will not be deducted from the FTTH pack. Instead, it will offer unlimited data for streaming exclusively to BSNL FTTH customers.
BSNL plans to include popular OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, YouTube, and ZEE5. Games on the platform are queued up next. As of now, only Android TV users are allowed to use it. Customers with Android 10 or later versions can download BSNL Live TV app from Google Play Store.
To subscribe to BSNL’s IFTV service, customers can download the BSNL Selfcare app from the Play Store and register for it.
