Boeing layoff: Company plans to cut 17,000 jobs, issues notice

Boeing layoffs have started, the company has started to issue layoff notice to 17,000 employees, representing 10 per cent of its global workforce. According to a report by Reuters, employees who received notice shall remain on payroll till January.

It is worth mentioning that the federal regulations require a 60-day notice period before termination of an employee. “As previously announced, we are adjusting our workforce levels to align with our financial reality and a more focused set of priorities. We are committed to ensuring our employees have support during this challenging time,” Boeing said in a press statement.

Reports further said that, the morale of the employees have been down since the major layoff announcement. These layoffs occured amid series of ongoing crisis at Boeing starting January this year when a door panel blew off a 737 MAX mid-flight.
