BMW starts the production of its first electric scooter BMW CE 04; offers a range of 130km

BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle brand of BMW has started the production of its first electric two-wheeler, BMW CE 04 scooter. The company had officially announced about this development few days back on its social media handle.

BMW had introduced about the concept model of BMW CE 04 electric scooter in 2020. The full production of the scooter has started now. This new electric scooter has a futuristic design that reminds us about a sci-fi Hollywood movie. The best part of the electric scooter is that it has zero-emission norms as compared to fuel based scooters and offers a great power for the users.

BMW clarified that the CE 04 electric scooter will be available in two variants – Standard and Avantgarde. The electric motor of the CE 04 electric scooter generates a maximum power of 31 kW (42 hp). On the other hand, the scooter can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in a time span of 2.6 seconds. The top speed that can be attained by the scooter is 120 kmph. In terms of suspension the front wheels get a 35mm telescopic fork, while the rear is handled by pre-loaded adjustable monoshock suspension. The wheels of the electric scooter are 15 inches.

The BMW CE 04 electric scooter gets a lithium-ion battery pack of 8.9 kWh capacity and is fitted in the inside of the floorboard. After a full charge on the battery, the users can cover a distance up to 130 km. A 6.9 kW charger can be used to fully charge the battery in just 1 hour 40 minutes. Meanwhile, a 2.3 kW charger takes 4 hours 20 minutes to get the battery fully charged.

In terms of features, the BMW CE 04 electric scooter gets a 10.25-inch TFT screen which offers many connectivity features along with navigation. The electric scooter gets LED headlamps and rear lights along, LED turn indicators and USB-C charging port. Some safety features of the electric scooter are Dynamic Traction Control, reverse gear, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Corning Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) etc. However, we are not sure whether or not this BMW electric scooter will get launched in India. It is expected that BMW CE 04 will be priced around $11,800 for the base model.
