BMW confirms the launch of MINI Cooper SE electric in India, bookings open for buyers

The electric vehicle market in India is currently booming and MINI is all set to introduce its first electric vehicle. BMW, which owns MINI has announced that the MINI Cooper SE will be the first electric car in India. The EV will probably be launched in 2022 said BMW.

The company has started the booking of the MINI Cooper SE and interested buyers can book it at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. Interested buyers have the option to book the vehicle on the MINI India website. It is important to note that the electric MINI Cooper has 3 doors only and is completely electric.

The first electric MINI Cooper in India will have a 32.6 kWh battery and offers a maximum power of 184hp. The peak torque offered by the hatchback is 270 Nm. The automaker claims that the electric vehicle can achieve a speed of 100 kmph in a timespan of just 7.3 seconds. A full charge will offer a range of 270 kms, which is considerably good. The MINI Cooper is a symbol of style and compactness and it is expected that the new MINI Cooper EV will carry forward the legacy.

The President of BMW Group India, Vikram Pawah in his statement to media told that this car is expected to be the front-runner in the urban mobility. The MINI Cooper SE will be available in four colours which include White Silver, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey, and British Racing Green.

Currently in India, the MINI brand offers a MINI 3-door hatch, MINI John Cooper Works Hatch, MINI Convertible and the MINI Countryman. For those who are unknown, MINI is a British company and is owned by German automaker BMW.
