German car-manufacturer BMW has launched all new ‘220i Sport’ car in India on today. The car is priced at Rs 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. It is expected to fit into the budget of the car enthusiasts who are planning to purchase a car below Rs 40 lakh.
The BMW 220i Sport is expected to extend the BMW 2 Series Grand Coup line-up in the Indian market. The car will be produced at BMW’s facility in Chennai.

Engine- The 220i Sport is powered by 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo engine. The engine produces a 198 hp power and 280 Nm peak torque. The 220i Sport is equipped with 7-Speed automatic transmission and takes 7.1 seconds to reach from 0-100 kmph.
Electronics- The vehicle uses BMW Performance Control system which increases the stability of the car. In car offers four driving modes- Eco, Pro, Comfort and Sport. On the connectivity front the 220i Sport has 8.8-inch main display with 3D Navigation, a 5.1 inch digital instrument cluster. The car also gets a support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety- The car is equipped with 6 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) and others.
The other highlights of the sedan include panoramic sunroof, sport seats for the driver and front passenger, ambient lights and parking assist with reverse assist.
BMW had earlier launched 220i M Sport at an introductory price of Rs 41 lakh in October 2020.
