SsangYong Torres Suv launched, Check price and features

The SsangYong Torres SUV has officially been unveiled in Korea. It sits between Ssangyong Rexton and Korando. The new SsangYong Torres has a starting price of 26,900,000 KRW (around Rs 16.25 lakh) and goes up to 30,400,000 KRW (around Rs 18.37 lakh). It is available for order in Korea.

Design and features

The new SUV has multiple rectangular elements upfront and has 6 vertical short slats along the headlight line above the regular front grille. The SUV features slim LED headlights and sharp lifts and flats that smoothly edge into the front. It sports a large faux intakes enclosed in a multi-edged aluminum styled skid plate with flat grooves on elevated ends at the bottom of the grille.

The Torres is available in 4 interior colour choices –black, white, brown, and khaki. It has dual tone colour tone on the exterior. The new SUV is available with 17, 18 alloys as standard, and 20” alloy wheels as an option. Inside the cabin, it has got a digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a smaller touch panel with touch climate controls. Most controls are integrated in the steering wheel.

The rear luggage space is split level for 703L, extendable to 839L with the luggage board removed. The luggage space can be increased to 1,662L by folding the second row.

Engine Details

The company has not revealed many information about the powertrains of the SsangYong Torres SUV. However, certification details online has revealed that it will have a 1.5l 4-cyl petrol turbocharged engine that returns max power of 125 kW (170 PS), and max torque of 280 Nm. This is paired with 6-speed AT and optional AWD. The engine combo is already in use in the SsangYong Korando crossover.

Safety features

Safety features of the SUV include blind-spot assist, lane keep assist, vehicle departure alert, autonomous emergency braking, and plenty of airbags. Standard features include TPMS, auto high-beam, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.

In the Korean market, the base model (T5) is offered with artificial leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated leather wrapped steering wheel, and auto climate control as standard. The top end model features ambient lighting, 8-way power driver seat, heated rear seats, and ventilated front seats.

As per the company, the Torres production starts in June 2022.
