Sony and Honda join hands to offer new-age EVs in the future, sales to start from 2025

Sony and Honda, which are two reputed companies in their own segments, have entered into an agreement to manufacture electric cars in the near future. The Joint venture between Sony (which is a major electronics company) and Honda (a major automobile company) is a 50:50 venture and will be known by the name Sony Honda Mobility Inc.

The sales of the EVs manufactured by Sony and Honda are scheduled to be in the market by 2025. The two companies will divide the responsibilities between them in order to cover meet the demands. The technology for the vehicle body will be delivered by Honda. The sales, as well as the service management network, will also be managed by Honda. On the other hand, Sony will use its imaging, sensing, and telecommunication network for new generation of mobility and services for mobility.

Even though we are not sure, we are expecting that the joint partnership between Honda and Sony will result in the development of Sony’s Vision-S 01 sedan and Vision-S 02 crossover. The joint venture of the two multinational companies is expected to bring a new era in the field of electric vehicles across the globe.

The era of EVs has already started across the globe and the partnership between two major companies (Sony and Honda) is a great step in this line. Even though it is too early to say, we expect the price of the upcoming EVs under this joint venture to be affordable. Especially, buyers in South Asian countries like India can accept an EV only when it fits in their budget. An EV with a price of less than Rs 20 lakh can be well received by buyers in India.

In India, Tata Nexon EV has gained a significant achievement in terms of sales figures. The price and range (on a single charge) of the Tata Nexon has made it popular among the masses in India. Tata has recently launched the Tata Nexon EV Max which is the elder sibling to the Nexon EV, and offers more range on a single charge.
