Renault Kwid E-TECH: An EV that offers around 300km range on full charge, Check details here

Car manufacturers across the globe are moving towards electric-powered vehicles and French manufacturer Renault is one of it. Renault has launched its new electric vehicle Kwid E-TECH in Brazil. The Renault Kwid E-TECH is the entry-level hatchback offered by the company that is powered by electricity. The Renault Kwid EV is sold as Dacia Spring EV in the European market.

Engine and Power

The Renault Kwid EV is powered by a 65PS electric motor and is connected to 26.8kWh battery pack. The Kwid EV can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in just 4.1 seconds. In the eco mode, the Renault Kwid E-TECH gets 44PS of power. The electric hatchback offers a range of 265km in mixed conditions. However, in the city conditions, the Renault Kwid E-TECH offers a range of 298km (Brazilian standards).

Charging

The Renault Kwid E-TECH gets a 7kW wall charger which can take about three hours to completely charge the battery. However, on the other hand, a 220V socket takes around nine hours to fully charge it. The DC charger can charge the battery from 15 to 80 per cent in just 40 minutes. The Kwid EV also gets regenerating braking. This means that when brakes are applied to slow down the car, the battery pack charges. The effect is felt more in the Eco mode.

Features and colours

When it comes to features, the specs of the Kwid E-TECH are far more than the India-spec Kwid. The EV gets 6 airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, power windows etc. The EV gets dual-tone alloy wheels, EV specific closed grille, E-Tech badge etc. The three colours that are available for the car is Noronha Green, Glacier Polar White and Diamond Silver.

Price

The Renault Kwid E-TECH is priced at Rs 1.43 Brazilian Real (approx. Rs 23.20 lakh). It is quite disappointing to know that this EV from Renault is not going to be launched in the Indian market anytime soon. If Renault plans to launch the Kwid E-TECH in India, it is expected to be priced around Rs 10 lakh.

In India, the Tata Nexon is proving to be a reliable as well as affordable EV. The sale figures of the Tata Nexon are increasing gradually and the EV is expected to be more value for money in the future.
