New Mahindra Scorpio-N launched at Rs 11.99 lakh

The much-waited Mahindra Scorpio-N has been launched as the new generation Scorpio. Mahindra has finally revealed the pricing, variants, features, specifications, and other details of the Scorpio-N. 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N bookings will start from July 30, 2022. Pricing of the AT and 4×4 variants will be revealed on July 21.

Mahindra Scorpio-N price list (ex-showroom)

The price of the Mahindra Scorpio-N starts from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level petrol MT Z2 variant and the diesel variant is priced from Rs 12.49 lakh. Top-end Mahindra Scorpio-N diesel MT 4×2 Z8 L variant costs up to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

These prices are valid only for the first 25,000 bookings. Pricing of the Mahindra Scorpio-N automatic and 4×4 variants will be announced on July 21, 2022.

The New Scorpio-N’s test drives in select cities will start from July 5 and deliveries will commence this festive season.

Mahindra Scorpio-N powertrains

Mahindra Scorpio-N is offered in a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor that can produce 203bhp power and 380Nm of peak torque. It will also be offered in a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine with 175bhp of max power and 400Nm of peak torque.

Both the petrol and diesel variants will be available in both manual and automatic transmission options. Four wheel drive variants will be restricted only to the diesel powertrain but will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options.

All engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the higher-spec diesel and the turbo-petrol engine can also be paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Variants

New Mahindra Scorpio-N are available in five trims – Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8 L. It can be purchased in Dazzling Silver, Deep Forest, Grand Canyon, Everest White, Napoli Black, Red Rag, Royal Gold colour options.

The petrol engine is available on Z2, Z4, Z8 and Z8L trims with a manual gearbox as standard, while the automatic gearbox will be offered from the Z4 trim onwards.

The 132hp, 2.2 diesel engine is Offred on the base Z2 and Z4 trims with a manual gearbox and in rear-wheel-drive guise only. Meanwhile, the 175hp diesel version is available on the Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8 luxury trims, with both manual and automatic gearboxes. While four-wheel drive will be offered on all manual variants from Z4 onwards, for the automatic versions, it will only be available on the higher-spec Z8 and Z8 luxury trims.

Only the top-end Z8 L will be available with the choice of six or seven seats. Rest of the lineup gets seven seats as standard.

Features and Specifications

The new Mahindra Scorpio-N measures 4,662mm long, 1,917mm wide, 1,857mm tall and a wheelbase of 2,750mm. That means it is 206mm longer and 97mm wider, but is 125mm lower in height than its predecessor.  The wheelbase too has increased by 70mm. The SUV is built on a new ladder frame chassis. It has a fuel tank capacity of 57 litres.

Inside the cabin, it sports a dual-tone dashboard that gets a 8-inch touch-screen with AdrenoX infotainment system, has gloss black and silver accents. All versions of the Scorpio-N come with a 7-seat configuration as standard, while only the top-spec Z8 Luxury trim can be had in a 6-seat configuration, with captain’s seats for the middle row.

The features of the top variants of the SUV include dual-zone climate control, analog dials with a large coloured MID, front and rear camera, auto start-stop, cruise control, Type-C USB ports for the first and second row, keyless go, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 12-speaker 3D Sony sound system and connected car features. It also gets a featute that lets you set your location with just a three-word combination. The Scorpio-N also gets four terrain modes – Normal, Grass/Gravel/ Snow, Mud/Rut, and Sand – for Mahindra’s new 4 XPLOR 4WD system with a low-range mode.

Safety features of the new Mahindra SUV include up to six airbags, traction control system, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, tire pressure monitoring system, driver drowsiness detection system and more.  It also gets mechanical locking rear differential, ESP -based brake locking front differential, an independent front suspension system and a five-link rear suspension.
