Mahindra Scorpio 2022 Has Interesting Multiple Seating Arrangements

The leading vehicle manufacturer in India, Mahindra and Mahindra is reportedly preparing to launch the next generation of Mahindra Scorpio SUV soon.

The new Mahindra Scorpio 2022 will be feature multiple seating arrangements. The new model will be made available in 6 as well as 7-seat format.

Reports have suggested that the company will use a new platform, new technology and engine for the 2022 Scorpio.

While the six-seater version will come with captain seats for the second row, whereas the 7-seater model will be offered with a bench-type seating option in the second row.

The current model is available in multiple seating layouts including 7-seats with captain seats, 7-seats with side facing seats, 8-seats front facing and 9-seats with side facing.

However, the new model is likely to be offered in only two seating layouts.

Mahindra could unveil the new Mahindra Scorpio in June, as the Scorpio nameplate will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary in June.

It is noteworthy that the company is currently facing shortage of semi-conductors. In fact, the new Thar and the XUV700 currently commands waiting period of over 1 year.

The new Scorpio is expected to have new advanced features and technology. It might come equipped with a 360 degree camera.

Interior and features

The spy images revealed that the new 2022 Scorpio will feature a centrally placed touchscreen infotainment system with vertically stacked air vents on either side. And the buttons and dials for infotainment settings will be placed below the air vents.

The SUV was also seen with a dial-control temperature setting and a buttons for AC mode. The spy pictures also shows the SUV with a conventional handbrake rather than the electric handbrake. The new SUV, it includes three-spoke flat-bottom steering. The SUV has several buttons for cruise control and media functions. It is not clear from this picture whether the driver side is fully digital or not, although it is likely to be a full digital unit.

Engine and power

There is no official information about the details of the engine specifications of the next generation model of Mahindra Scorpio yet. However, it is rumored that the new generation Scorpio is expected to get a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor. Both these engine units was also used on the Thar SUV. The new-gen SUV could also get an automatic transmission variant.
