2022 Kia Seltos facelift revealed with more new features

Kia has officially unveiled the updated Seltos overseas. Reports have revealed that the new Kia Seltos facelift will be showcased to general public for the first time at the Busan Motor Show 2022 in Korea, which is set to starts on July 15. The Seltos facelift will likely make its way to the Indian market by in Auto Expo 2023. Though, the Kia Seltos received certain updates in India a few months ago, the new Facelift has more  updates includes styling changes, among others.

Kia Seltos facelift exterior updates

The updated Kia Seltos has received styling tweaks which bring it in line with newer Kia SUVs like the Sportage and the refreshed Telluride that are sold overseas. The refreshed Seltos features a new set of headlights with angular signatures, LED daytime running lights that extend into the grille, and the ice cube foglamps. The company has put more cuts and creases and a prominent air dam surrounded by a faux aluminum skid plate on the front bumper. The faux aluminum skid plate will most likely feature on the GT-Line or X-Line variant. The rear bumper also gets a new design and a more prominent faux skid plate set-up.

It has got a new alloy wheel design, new connected tail-lamps, and a prominent Kia badge in center stage. The tail-lamps now extend downwards and get an L-shaped LED signature look that looks similar to the Venue facelift.

Kia Seltos facelift interior updates

Inside the cabin, though the SUV looks to have the same dashboard layout as the current model, but, it has received multiple changes that were reveled upon a closer look. The new set-up has a curved screen that’s also seen on the EV6 electric car. The SUV has got the same 10.25 inches display, it has received new switches for the HVAC controls. The gear lever has been replaced with a rotary dial.

Though the company has not shared the full features list yet, but we expect the refreshed SUV to get more safety add-ons and additional features across the line-up. Pictures of the exterior confirm the presence of a 360-degree camera, which will be standard on higher variants. The updated Seltos is expected to get ADAS features, but it is uncertain whether it will be in the India-spec SUV.

Kia Seltos facelift powertrain options

There is no information on the engine specifications of the new Seltos yet. So, it is speculated that it could get the same petrol and diesel engines as the current model. The Seltos currently gets a 1.5-litre diesel, a 1.4-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It comes paired with a six-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT automatic and a six-speed torque convertor automatic depending on engine selected. Kia recently introduced the Seltos diesel iMT, making it the only diesel iMT in the country.

The Seltos facelift will compete against the Hyundai Creta, which also gets the same powertrain options. Kia is also reportedly working on a CNG-powered versions of the Seltos, which may debut along with the facelift in India.

The Seltos facelift will also rival two new midsize SUVs coming from the Toyota-Maruti stable – the Urban Cruiser Hyryder that will be launched today.  Additionally, the Seltos facelift will also rival the likes of the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Hector and the Tata Harrier in India.
