Jeep Meridian launched in India, Check the price, specifications and variants

Jeep India has launched its new 7 seater SUV-Jeep Meridian on 19 May. With the introduction of Meridian, Jeep aims to place its vehicle in the 7 seater SUV segment. The bookings of the SUV have already started from May 3, 2022, at a token amount of Rs 50,000. The delivery of the Jeep Meridian is expected to begin from June 2022.

Engine and Dimensions

When it comes to the engine, the Jeep Meridian will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel motor that is already present in the Jeep Compass. The engine produces a power of 170PS and a torque of 350Nm. The SUV is offered in 6-speed MT (Manual Transmission) and 9 speed AT (Automatic Transmission) along with FWD or AWD. In order to increase the off-roading qualities, the SUV gets hill descent control along with Terrain drive modes like-Mud, Snow and Sand.

The dimensions of the SUV are 4769mm x 1859mm x 1698mm (length x width x height). The wheelbase of the SUV is 2782mm while the ground clearance is 203mm.

Price and variants

The Jeep Meridian is priced from Rs 29.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 36.9 lakh. The SUV is available in two trims- Limited and Limited (O). The Limited FWD variant costs Rs 29.90 lakh for Diesel-MT while the Diesel AT costs Rs 31.80 lakh. Similarly, the Limited (O) FWD variant costs Rs 32.40 lakh for Diesel MT while the Diesel AT costs Rs 34.30 lakh. On the other hand, the Limited (O) AWD variant costs Rs 36.95 lakh for Diesel AT.

Safety features

The Jeep Meridian offers 6 airbags as a standard safety feature across all its variants. This means that your family will be safe and secure in every driving condition. The 360-degree surround-view camera assists you during your toughest adventures and also offers blind-spot monitoring. This means that you will easily handle tricky spots during day-to-day parking. Some of the other safety features that are offered in the SUV are tyre pressure monitoring, electronic stability control, traction control, rollover mitigation, hill start assist (HSA), hill descent control (HDC) and antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).

Cabin features

The SUV also offers many features that will provide easy access to users. The one-touch tumble second row makes accessibility to the third row an easy task. Similarly, the AC vents are available in every row for user comfort. The best-in-class cooling facility makes the SUV 30 percent cooler than the regular time. The panoramic sunroof is also a major cabin feature on the SUV.

The 9 built-in speakers in the SUV offer a great music experience for the users. Other important features on the SUV are 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, ventilated front seats, wireless charging and many more.

The SUV also offer great space for all the travel necessities. The boot space of the Jeep Meridian with third row folded is 481 litres. With third row up, the boot space is 170 litres.

Colours

Buyers will get five different colours variants of Jeep Meridian SUV in India. The colours are Pearl White, Velvet Red, Techno Green, Magnesio Grey, and Brilliant Black.

Rivals

Given its offerings to the users, the Jeep Meridian is expected to be costlier than the Jeep Compass. In India, the Jeep Meridian will rival the likes of Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, and Toyota Fortuner.

For those who are unaware of the latest Jeep launches, the Meridian will be the second vehicle to launch in India after Compass Trailhawk.
