Hyundai Elantra discontinued from India?, Details removed from company website

Hyundai India has silently removed the details of Elantra on its website. The sedan has been removed from the automaker’s official India website to buy new cars. This hints that the company has discontinued the sedan in the country. However, the company has not officially announced about the discontinuation of Elantra.

Multiple Hyundai dealer sources revealed that they are not accepting bookings of Elantra. Hyundai Elantra was one of the few remaining executive sedans in the country,

Reports have suggested that the Elantra has been discontinued temporarily due to parts shortage or the company is likely planning to launch the new gen Elantra in India. This was assumed as the carmaker has already introduced a new-gen model of Elantra in several international markets.

Elantra Powertrain, Specs and Features

The India-spec Elantra came with a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine. The petrol engine produces an output of 150 bhp and 192 Nm of peak torque. The diesel motor churned out 114 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. It gets a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai Elantra features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, connected car tech, and Infinity sound system.

Safety Features

Safety features of the sedan include six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, and front and rear parking sensors.

Elantra price in India

Hyundai Elantra was available in SX and SX(O) trims that were priced between Rs 17.85 lakh to Rs 21.12 lakh (ex-showroom) in the country.

New-gen Elantra expected launch

Hyundai hasn’t confirmed the launch of the third-gen Elantra in India yet. And even if the latest iteration of Elantra did come to India, it might take some time.

The upcoming third-gen Elantra will come with many interior and exterior design changes. The new-gen Elantra is offered in a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill, a 1.6-litre petrol motor paired with hybrid tech and a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol motor. The engine options are available with a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT automatic, a six-speed torque converter automatic and a CVT automatic gearbox.
