Bhubaneswar:  The Airports Authority of India (AAI) cancelled UDAN (Ude Deshka Aam Nagrik) licence of Air Odisha for its irregular flight services.

Sources said the AAI cancelled the license of Air Odisha alleging that the air carrier is not regularly operating its flight services under the UDAN scheme citing various reasons, including technical glitches.

The low cost private airline was informed about the cancellation of UDAN licence through a letter on 19, sources added.

With this move, Air Odisha flight service to all eastern regions, including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand has been suspended. Consequently, Air Odisha flights from Bhubaneswar to Raipur and from Raipur to Jagdalpur have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, the cancellation of the licence has raised uncertainty of the recently-inaugurated Jharsuguda airport in Odisha.

Earlier, Union Petroleum and National Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan asked the Air Odisha authorities to ensure regular flight operation failing which the Centre would be forced to cancel their licence.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also requested the Union Avitian Ministry to regularise the Air Odisha flight from the Jharsuguda airport.
