The 2024 Mini Cooper S has been launched in India and this premium hatchback gets a price tag of Rs 44.90 lakh. This new version of the iconic hatchback is the fourth generation of the car and still has the exterior design elements of the 1959 original model. The 2024 Mini Cooper S gets a 3-door form contrasting to the 5-door form of the car that is available worldwide.
Design
The new Mini Cooper S gets circular headlamps and design elements that remind us of the older gen models. The new octagonal grille of the car gets larger in size. The wheel arches of the car get plastic cladding while the front and rear fenders remain the same as earlier. The tail-lights of the car are completely redesigned with new triangular shape. Speaking about the wheel size we get a 17-inch wheel as standard. There is also a provision for offering 18-inch units as an option.
Interior
When we look into the interior of the car, we get a minimalistic approach. There is no instrument cluster here. Instead there is a new 9.4-inch round OLED touchscreen that offers car-related settings including HVAC controls. The hatchback offers Mini’s latest Android-based operating system that is developed in collaboration with Samsung. The AC vents are placed just above the glove box. They are seamlessly integrated in the dashboard.
The features that are present in the hatchback include heads-up display, electrically adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, Harman Kardon sound system, six airbags, Level 1 ADAS suite, electronic parking brake etc.
Powertrain
The 2024 Mini Cooper S gets a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that was present in the older generation. However, if we speak about the power and torque figures there is significant rise. While the older generation of the hatchback produced 178hp and 280Nm, the new generation of the car produced 204hp and 300Nm. The acceleration of the Mini Cooper S from 0-100 kmph is 6.6 seconds.
Speaking about the rivals, there are no direct rivals of the 2024 Mini Cooper S in India.
