2022 Yamaha FZS variants launched in India, know price and specifications

Yamaha has been a successful bike manufacturer in the Indian market and particularly the Yamaha FZ series has been selling like hotcakes since its advent. Recently the bike manufacturer has launched the 2022 FZS variants in the Indian market. The bikes get a cosmetic upgrade along with some other upgrades.

The new FZ variants that got launched in the Indian market are the FZS-Fi and FZS DLX variants. The FZS line up is the sportier version of the much popular FZ series. Interestingly, the FZS will be the first bike in India to receive any upgrade in the year 2022. The new FZS comes with new LED tail light while the FZS DLX variant gets LED flashers. The FZS DLX variant is also available in three new colours-Metallic Black, Majesty Red and Metallic Grey. On the other hand, the FZS model continues to be available in Matte Red and Dark Matte Blue colours. The bikes also get coloured alloy wheels, a single seat and dual tone-colour scheme.

In terms of connectivity, the Yamaha FZS and FZS DLX variants get the connectivity of Connect-X app. For those who are unknown, the Connect-X app presents a bunch of practical features such as locating your vehicle, parking record of the bike, riding history, replying calls etc. The other features that are offered on the bike are LED headlight, negative LCD instrument cluster, lower engine guard, etc.

Both the Yamaha FZS and FZS DLX are powered by a same 149cc BS6-complaint engine. The 149cc air-cooled engine churns out 12 bhp of power at 7350 rpm and 13 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. The engine is mated with a 5 speed gearbox. In terms of suspension, the FZS and FZS DLX have telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock at the rear.

Both the Yamaha FZS and FZS DLX are priced aggressively in comparison with other 150cc segment bikes in the Indian market. The FZS-Fi is priced at Rs 1.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the FZS DLX will cost Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Yamaha had introduced the FZ 16 way back in the year 2008 and targeted the youth bikers in the country. With each passing year, the FZ series became more popular among the youth. However, currently, there are a bunch of other naked motorcycles available in the Indian market which is at par with the FZ. We would like Yamaha to make the FZ series more aggressive in the appeal and design. The pricing of the FZ series seems reasonable though.
