2021 Force Motors Gurkha teased again ahead of launch in India; To rival Mahindra Thar

Force Motors is all set to launch its iconic off-roader SUV Gurkha (Gurkha) in a new avatar soon in India. Now, the company has teased its upcoming Gurkha SUV ahead of its official launch in the Indian market, which is expected to be in September.

Earlier, the carmaker had confirmed that the Gurkha SUV will be launched in the third quarter of this year, i.e. sometime between July and September. However, the company have not revealed the official launch date yet.

If the Force Gurkha SUV gets  launched in the festive season then it will compete with the new generation Mahindra Thar SUV in the Indian market.

Features and Design

The new Gurkha SUV will be much better than the current model in terms of look, features and design.

The 2021 Gurkha SUV will come with a snorkel and a functional roof carrier which was also displayed in the pre-production of the Gurkha SUV showcased at the Auto Expo in February last year.

The spy shots of the new Gurkha has also seen recently which showed that the new model has the same design and styling as the version introduced at Auto Expo.

As per the leaked picture, it gets a new touchscreen infotainment system, circular LED DRLs in the front grille, single slat grille, five-spoke alloy wheels as well as a roof-mounted luggage carrier similar to the Force Gurkha display at the Auto Expo.

Apart from this, the new Gurkha BS6 SUV will get a new headlamp with circular daytime running lights along with a large company logo in the middle of the single slot grille and a roof carrier with attractive fog lights, wheel cladding as well as black ORVM (Out Side Rear View Mirror) which give it a more luxurious look than before.

The safety feature of the car is Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), dual airbags, rear parking sensors and speed ​​alert. At the same time, it will also get a new chassis with manual locking differential.

The Force Gurkha is expected to have a different seating configuration. We expect it to feature a six seater variant with three rows the same as the model showcased in the Auto Expo. The last row seats faced each other. This is bigger than the Thar’s four-seater arrangement.

Engine and Power

The new Gurkha gets a 2.6-litre diesel engine that will be BS6 compliant and is expected to churn out 115hp power and 350Nm of peak torque. It is said to have been given a 5 speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the Mahindra Thar is available with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces a peak torque of 300Nm and 130hp of power.

The Force Gurkha will get an all-wheel-drive system which will be beneficial for adventure enthusiasts.

One of the highlights of the SUV includes independent front suspension and a rigid axle at the rear. The SUV will be a strong off-roader and will get off-roading tires with a 4×4 system that can gallop on any rough terrain.

The company has given the new model double hydraulic spring coil suspension and 17-inch tubeless tyres.

Price

The new Force Gurkha is expected to be launched at a price range of around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival Mahindra Thar’s in the off-road segment.
