Nandankanan Zoo, Botanical garden to be closed for visitors for 5 days: Details

Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) as well as the Botanical garden in the capital city of Odisha will be closed for visitors from 30th December 2021 to January 03, 2022. A notice issued by the Deputy Director of NZP reads.

As per reports, as a precautionary measure against spread of new Covid variant OMICRON which has been cause of concern for the State, the Nandankanan zoo including Tiger safari and the nearby Botanical garden will remain closed for visitors.

It is to be noted that this famous Zoological Park celebrated its 62nd Foundation Day today amid Covid restrictions due to rising cases in the State including Omicron cases.

Also, Nandankanan Zoological Park welcomed its new member after the female chimpanzee Rakhi was blessed with a baby for the first time.

The chimpanzee Julu was induced to mate with chimpanzee Rakhi. The health condition of both Rakhi and her new-born chimpanzee is stable, added reports.
