IIC of Motu Police Station of Malkangiri district arrested

Malkangiri: The Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Motu Police Station in Malkangiri district, Susanta Kumar Sahoo, was arrested by Bhubaneswar Vigilance on Thursday on charges of accepting illegal gratification and possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The Odisha Vigilance team informed regarding his arrest through their official Twitter handle.

Reportedly, he was intercepted on Wednesday on NH-16 near office of SP, Khurdha while plying from Motu to his native village, Nakhara on an Ertiga SUV car bearing registration No.OD-05-AX-5629. He was in possession of unaccounted cash Rs 2.8 lakh, for which he could not account satisfactorily.

During house searches, among other incriminating material, a registered sale deed of value Rs 24,90,000 of plot at Nakhara, purchased recently in the name of his wife, has been recovered.

In this connection, a case under section 7(a)/13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station.

He has been forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, added reports.
