The next-gen Nissan Kicks has been spotted undergoing tests overseas ahead of its global debut. The next-gen Nissan Kicks is expected to be unveil later this year. The company dicontinued its first-gen Nissan kicks earlier.

Now, the test mule of the next-gen Kicks is heavily draped in camouflage, but it’s likely in the final stages of testing.

Nissan Kicks

The first-gen Kicks was based on the tried-and-tested M0 platform, which is also seen on the Duster and Captur in India. While in most international markets, the Kicks was based on the V-platform that underpinned the Micra hatchback. However, the latest iteration of the Kicks seen in these spy shots is reportedly underpinned by the more advanced and modular CMF-B platform from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.

The heavily camouflaged test mule of the Nissan Kicks seems to have a much more aggressive design language in comparison to current-gen Kicks. The Nissan Kick was last upgraded in 2020 for international markets, however, it never reached India. The next-gen Kicks has a more upright stance with a taller and flatter nose.

It sports a distinct two-part grille, a well-contoured front fascia, and a possible split headlamp set-up. At the rear, the windscreen is quite steeply raked and the tailgate has a flat-ish design with seemingly vertically oriented tail lamps.

Next-gen Nissan Kicks specifications and features

The next-gen Kicks is expected to be underpinned by the CMF-B platform. This platform even has an electric derivative that’s known as the CMF-B EV. The next-gen Kicks will come with 1.5-litre petrol engine with Nissan’s e-Power hybrid powertrain. The combustion engine, however, never directly powers the wheels but only acts as a generator, and it’s the e-motor that drives the wheels. It could also continue to be powered by regular petrol powertrains.

As the CMF-B platform is headed to India and Renault-Nissan has also announced to introduce two new SUVs each by 2025. So, we expect the upcoming models will be underpinned by the CMF-B platform and will be localised to a high degree. The company will likely bring a tweaked version to India and other low-cost markets. This model might not have the non-essential components, while still keeping things future-proof.

There is, however, no news of the next-gen Kicks based on this platform making it to India any time soon.
