Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Luxury sedan launched in India;  Know the price and engine specifications

German automaker Mercedes has launched new versions of Maybach S-Class luxury sedan in India. The company has introduced two new models under the premium Maybach S-Class series. The sedans are S580 and the S680. The S580 has a starting price of Rs 2.5 crore while the S680 has a starting price of Rs 3.2 crore.

While the S580 is locally assembled in India, the S680 is fully imported (completely built unit/ CBU). It is important to note that the new S-Class Maybach was launched globally in November 2020. Finallly, the company is introducing the sedans in India. However, the waiting period for S580 is quite long and the S680 has already been sold until 2023.

Engine

The Mercedes-Maybach S580 is powered by 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine. The engine churns out a power of 503PS and a maximum torque of 700Nm. The luxury sedan gets a 9 speed automatic transmission and can achieve 0-100kmph in just 4.8 seconds. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Maybach S680 gets a 6.0-litre V12 twin-turbocharged engine which has a maximum power of 612PS. The peak torque of the luxury sedan is 900Nm. The S680 gets a 9 speed automatic transmission and can achieve 0-100kmph in just 4.5 seconds. Both the variants get 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system as standard.

Exterior

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets a unique bonnet and chromed fin along with a Maybach grille and ample touches of chrome. A Maybach logo is present on the C-pillar and it gets LED Digital lights as well. The alloy wheels that are present in the Maybach S-Class also get designed alloy wheels that make it look distinct. In terms of wheelbase, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is 180 mm longer than its predecessor and is 5.7-meter in length. The car gets 20-inch alloy wheels as standard while users get an option for upgrading it to 21- inch wheels.

Interior

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class offers a plethora of luxury features for its users. The features include multi-contour massage feature for each seat, armrests that can be heated, seat ventilation etc. Users can additionally opt for full-length centre console, rear-seat champagne cooler and wooden trims as well. The luxury sedan gets MBUX infotainment system that gets a 12.8-inch display at the front and the centre and two 11.6-inch rear seat monitors for entertainment. The digital instrument console is 12.3 inches while a tablet is present in the rear seats as well.

Safety

In terms of safety, the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class offers Level 2 Advanced Driver Assist System with evasive steering assist, active brake assist, active steering assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency stop assist etc. The passengers get a premium level of safety with 13 airbags in the car.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will give competition to Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Flying Spur in the Indian market.
