Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: This electric SUV is the official entry of the company in the segment
Maruti Suzuki has recently revealed the e Vitara at an event in Milan, Italy. This electric SUV marks the entry of the manufacturer in the electric car segment. The e Vitara is based on the eVX concept that was shown in Auto Expo 2023. The production of the car is expected to start in April or May 2025.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is built on HEARTECT-e platform that is specially meant for electric vehicles (EVs). As the platform is lightweight, it helps to improve performance and energy efficiency. The company has also increased the battery capacity by creating space under the car. When it comes to cabin features, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara offers dual screens, ADAS, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera and much more.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara gets an electric 4WD system which is called ALLGRIP-e. This technology by Suzuki offers two independent eAxles at the front and rear and provides powerful performance along with precise control with excellent responsiveness. The trail mode offers smooth escape from rough terrain by avoiding spinning tires and distributing drive torque to the opposite tyre.
Speaking about battery options, we get two battery options 49kWh and 64kWh. It is expected that the e Vitara will offer approx. 400km on a full charge. The drive system is 2WD and 4WD. When it comes to dimensions, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is 4275mm in length, 1800mm in width, 1635mm in height and 2700mm wheelbase. While the turning radius is 5.2m, the ground clearance is 180mm. The seating capacity of the SUV is 5.
In terms of output, the 2WD version generates 106 kW in 49kWh battery option and 128kW in 64kWh battery option. The torque is 189Nm. On the other hand, the 4WD version generates 135 kW (total power) and 128kW in 64kWh battery option. The torque is 300Nm.
