Man buys Rs 15.44 lakh fancy number for his Rs 70,000 Honda Activa

You may have heard about people spending their hard earned money to buy fancy numbers for their luxury cars or two-wheelers. But, have you ever heard of someone buying a fancy number for a price that costs over ten times more than the vehicle. Such a incident has happened in Chandigarh.

According to reports, a Chandigarh man has bought a fancy number that cost him Rs 15.44 lakh for his two-wheeler, which is a Honda Activa. This shocking price for a number plate of a scooty has shocked many people.

As per reports, a Chandigarh-based businessman named Brij Mohan has won a bid of Rs 15.44 lakh for a registration number CH-01-CJ-0001. He bought this fancy number for his newly-purchased Honda Activa, which is priced at Rs 71,000 (ex-showroom).

Brij Mohan has said that he will use this number for his newly purchased Activa, but, he will transfer this number for a car later after he buys it. In that case, he will transfer the number for that car, after paying a nominal fee.

Big price for special numbers

Brij Mohan bought this fancy number in an auction conducted by Chandigarh Registration and Licensing Authority from 14th-16th April 2022. Brij Mohan’s move is really shocking as people usually don’t spend this much money to purchase a fancy number for a normal motorcycle or a scooter.

During the auction, around 378 fancy numbers went under the hammer for bids, all of which are bought at a more premium price when compared to the standard fee for taking a registration number. Participants spent a total of Rs 1.5 crore to purchase these 378 fancy numbers at the auction. The second most expensive number in this auction was CH-01-CJ-0002, which was bought for Rs 5.4 lakh.

Let us tell you that it is not the first time that the number ‘0001’ got purchased for such a huge amount in Chandigarh. This number was sold for Rs 26.05 lakh for a Mercedes Benz S-Class, which is one of the most expensive cars in the world costing over a crore, in 2012.
