Mahindra is planning to introduce as many as seven new EVs in the Indian market by 2030 and the Bolero electric as well as Scorpio electric might be two of them. The electric SUVs are expected to be named Scorpio.e and Bolero.e and are expected to play a major role in the electric line-up of Mahindra.

The company executive director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sector) Rajesh Jejurikar did mention that all the ICE brands would be electrified over time. In its investor presentation, the company mentioned that it plans to electrify the Bolero as well as Scorpio. The models will take on the ‘.e’ suffix just like the XUV.e and Thar.e. It is reported that the electric versions of the Mahindra Scorpio as well as Bolero will not be using a ladder-frame chassis.

For those who are unknown, Mahindra had showcased the Thar.e concept in August 2023 and it was a modified version of Mahindra’s INGLO (India GLObal) skateboard platform, codenamed P1. The wheelbase of the platform is expected to be between 2775mm and 2975mm and might be used on the Scorpio and Bolero EV. The wheelbase of ICE variants of Bolero and Scorpio N are 2680mm and 2750mm respectively. The timeline of the Scorpio.e as well as Bolero.e are unknown but Mahindra had announced that it will bring out seven new EVs by 2030 and the above-mentioned EVs might be among them.

Speaking about ICE Bolero, the company is expected to launch it by 2026. Mahindra might be introducing a next-generation ladder-frame architecture called U171 that will be used in multiple new SUVs and pickup trucks. The first model to get the new platform will be next-gen Bolero and it will be in the stores by 2026-27.
